SECOND VISIT TO DONINGTON: A CURATE'S EGG
In his own words:
SATURDAY QUALIFYING
Just winding up for a quick lap, tucked in behind another
Fisher getting a tow down the start/finish straight - just about to pass
when Bang! it blew up - oil etc everywhere. Three or four cars off on several
other corners. Yellow flags waving everywhere. End result:
17th on the grid (not happy).
SATURDAY RACE
OK start - made two places by the old hairpin.
Three-quarter distance - terrible vibration through the car at about 120
mph - slowed slightly to try to finish. Lost a place on the last
lap and finished 11th. Traced vibration to loose prop mounting (lucky).
SUNDAY RACE
Made a great start. Unfortunately so did everyone
else. Very busy through the Craner curves. Made a couple of
places. A few accidents and spins - one right in front of me who
collected me as he came back onto the circuit (first damage to car - side
pod and flattened silencer. Damn.) Ended up 8th with a best
lap of 1:22.74. Fourth quickest in class. Bit of an up and
down weekend really.
